Magnetic bead-based nucleic acid purification from water and air samples—NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water
The NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water kit enables rapid manual or automated isolation of DNA and RNA from diverse water and air samples in a scalable, magnetic bead-based format. The kit is compatible with a variety of filters and filtration systems and can be used to process salty or fresh water samples ranging from turbid to clear. The kit protocol avoids the use of reducing agents while enabling efficient removal of inhibitors. Purified nucleic acids are suitable for downstream applications such as qPCR and NGS.

NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water provides a versatile, user-friendly solution for microbial metagenomics and environmental microbiology applications, and allows researchers to determine water quality or the efficiency of sterilization procedures by measuring the microbial load of a sample, including coliform, pathogenic, and free-living microorganisms. The kit includes magnetic beads and buffers that enable high-throughput processing of samples obtained using an array of filters and filtration systems (including 25-mm and 47-mm filters composed of various materials and cartridge filters such as Sterivex). Additional sample preparation steps—including RNase or DNase digestion or sample homogenization using MN Bead Tubes Type A—can be incorporated to optimize the protocol for particular sample types or downstream applications. In addition to enabling manual processing using magnetic separators, the automation-friendly format of NucleoMag DNA/RNA Water allows for the protocol to be easily adapted to popular platforms such as KingFisher and epMotion.
