Unique Dual Index Kits

The Unique Dual Index (UDI) kits contain unique dual-indexed PCR primers, which are required for generating indexed Illumina-compatible NGS libraries. Each primer set contains unique pairs of premixed i5 and i7 index primers, supplied predispensed in 96-well plates. They are available in two formats: four sets of 96 unique dual indexes (Cat. # 634752–634755) or a set of 24 unique dual indexes (Cat. # 634756); the latter is a subset of Cat. # 634752.

The UDI kits are compatible with several Takara Bio’s RNA-seq and DNA-seq kits. Please refer to the tables below for a list of compatible kits/catalog numbers.

The Unique Dual Index (UDI) kits contain unique dual-indexed PCR primers, which are required for generating indexed Illumina-compatible NGS libraries. The four individual plates of 96 unique dual indexes offer a total of 384 unique dual indexes for preparing multiplexed sequencing libraries of up to 384 samples. Each dual index is provided in an amount sufficient for single use.

All UDIs have been functionally validated to work with Illumina sequencing systems (e.g., MiSeq®, NovaSeq™, MiniSeq™, NextSeq®, and HiSeq® platforms) using two- or four-channel chemistry for base calling. They have not been validated with systems using one-channel chemistry.

Compatible kits

NOTE: The Unique Dual Index (UDI) Kit (634752–634756) indexing pairs are compatible with the NGS kits listed below. To prepare multiplexed Illumina sequencing libraries using these UDI kits, please use the volumes indicated in the table below for the appropriate DNA/RNA-seq kit. The indicated volume of indexing primer to use may differ in the user manual for certain kits from the volumes below. Please be sure to note this change in volume for your kit.
