Photoactivatable and photoswitchable fluorescent proteins
Photoactivatable and photoswitchable proteins provide unique possibilities for optical labeling and tracking living cells, organelles, and intracellular molecules in a spatiotemporal manner. For tracking cells, organelles, protein movement, and real-time protein dynamics, use Dendra2 fluorescent protein. For promoter activity studies, use Timer fluorescent protein. Photoactivatable fluorescent proteins such as PAmCherry are useful for determining protein half-life and transport pathways.
