Titanium Taq DNA Polymerase and premix
Titanium Taq DNA Polymerase is a blend of a specially engineered Taq, and an antibody for integrated hot-start PCR, which prevents non-specific amplification and primer-dimer formation. Titanium Taq DNA Polymerase is suitable for use in all PCR applications and with a wide range of samples, including bacterial and plasmid DNA, cDNA, and complex genomic DNA. It gives higher PCR product yield than other polymerases, and is active over a wide range of Mg2+ concentrations.

Titanium Taq is available in several formats:
- Individual components—separate tubes of Titanium Taq polymerase mix and buffer (dNTPs not included).
- For a complete system, use the Titanium Taq PCR Kit—includes polymerase mix, PCR buffer, 50X dNTP mix, control DNA template, control primer mix, and PCR-grade water.
- A ready-to-use, lyophilized 2X PCR master mix—High Yield PCR EcoDry Premix for convenient room-temperature set up, transport, and storage.
Overview
- High yield—requires fewer PCR cycles, therefore generating less background signal
- Active over wide ranges of Mg2+ concentrations—minimizes time spent on optimization
- Specially engineered DNA polymerase—amplifies highly complex templates up to 2 kb, such as mammalian genomic DNA. Also suitable for rare or low-copy targets
- Integrated hot-start antibody for enhanced specificity—minimizes primer-dimer formation and reduces background, making it suitable for multiplex PCR. Also allows for convenient reaction setup at room temperature
- Lyophilized format available as EcoDry Premix—stores conveniently at room temperature. Ideal for field work or point-of-care assays

2.11 | Protecting the food supply with PCR
Corn crops are vulnerable to a serious bacterial disease known as Stewart's Wilt, which can sharply reduce crop yields. Accurate identification of this pathogen in infected corn plants is critical to minimizing its impact. A team of scientists discovered that Titanium Taq DNA Polymerase was able to generate reproducible PCR banding patterns to distinguish this pathogen from several related strains—providing a rapid, reliable genotyping method to help protect corn crops from a devastating blight. That's Good Science!
