Hepatocyte growth factor detection
Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) belongs to the plasminogen subfamily of S1 peptidases but has no detectable protease activity. HGF is secreted by mesenchymal cells as a single inactive polypeptide that is cleaved by a serine protease (known as hepatocyte growth factor activator, or HGFA) into a 69-kDa alpha chain and 34-kDa beta chain. The active form of HGF is a heterodimer, produced by disulfide bond formation between the alpha and beta chains. HGF acts as a multifunctional cytokine in epithelial cells. It regulates cell growth, motility, and morphogenesis by activating a tyrosine kinase signaling cascade after binding to the c-Met receptor. HGF plays a role in tissue regeneration, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis.

ELISAs for hepatocyte growth factor detection
This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA using two antibodies that are highly specific to human total HGF protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure soluble human total HGF protein in serum, EDTA plasma, or cell culture supernatants.
Antibodies for hepatocyte growth factor detection
These products are affinity-purified IgG antibodies that recognize human or rat HGF protein (alpha chain). The antibodies were raised in rabbit using synthetic peptides and can be used for Western blot (WB) detection or immunohistochemical (IHC) detection.
Alternative names
HGF is also known as hepapoietin A, hepatopoeitin A, scatter factor (SF), fibroblast-derived tumor cytotoxic factor (F-TCF), HGFB, HPTA, and deafness, autosomal recessive 39 (DFNB39).
