Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) is a large, multi-domain protein that includes leucine-rich repeats and a GTPase domain. LRRK2 is present largely in the cytoplasm but is also known to associate with the mitochondrial outer membrane. It positively regulates autophagy through a calcium-dependent signaling pathway. Mutations in the LRRK2 gene, corresponding to regions within the kinase and GTPase domains, are commonly associated with late-onset Parkinson's disease. Some members of the 14-3-3 family bind to and influence the cytoplasmic localization of LRRK2, and this interaction has been identified as important to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. LRRK2 is also known as Parkinson disease (autosomal dominant) 8 (PARK8), augmented in rheumatoid arthritis 17 (AURA17), leucine-rich repeat serine/threonine-protein kinase 2, dardarin, RIPK7, ROCO2, DKFZp434H2111, and FLJ45829.
This product is an affinity-purified IgG antibody that recognizes human LRRK2 protein. The antibody was raised in rabbit using a synthetic peptide, and can be used for Western blot (WB) detection of human LRRK2 protein.
